Supporters gathered outside Manjeet Kaur’s appeal against deportation in Manchester on Wednesday of last week.

Around 35 people joined the lobby. Protesters also brought banners from Manjeet’s Manchester Unite Community branch and from Salford Council Unison branch.

Manjeet, originally from Afghanistan, moved to India following the death of her father. She fled from India in 2011 after her husband Amitt, a journalist and human rights activist, went missing and she was attacked.

The Home Office refused her asylum case.

Manjeet is now waiting to hear the result of her appeal against that decision.
