Journalists want a fight

by Julia Armstrong
Issue No. 2399

The National Union of Journalists (NUJ) conference met last weekend.

Delegates argued for a strategy to fight back.

Examples of resistance include a pay strike victory at the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health.

Members voted to back a general strike in Britain, including support for Unite the Resistance.

There was excellent support for the Orgreave Truth and Justice Campaign.

The campaign’s organiser Barbara Jackson addressed the conference, which voted its support.

Barbara also spoke at an SWP fringe meeting on the Miners’ Strike, which attracted 42 delegates.
