Lecturers vote to accept new pay offer

UCU union members in higher education have accepted a below inflation pay rise of 2 percent—a cut in real terms. Workers accepted the offer by 84 percent in a ballot, on a turnout of 53 percent. Plans for a marking boycott have now been scrapped. The UCU leadership didn’t call for accepting or rejecting the deal. UCU Left, which Socialist Worker supports, argued for rejecting it.

Voting underway for UCU vice president

Thousands sign up to defend victimised staff in Glasgow

More than 2,000 people have signed a petition in defence of two victimised lecturers at Glasgow university. The two sent a letter to students explaining the reasons for recent industrial action. Sign the petition at bit.ly/1h6L4WO
