Workers based at Transport for London (TfL) headquarters and Travel Information Centres were set to strike to defend their pensions on Friday of this week. The strike was due to begin at 6am and last for 24 hours.
It involves members of the RMT, TSSA and Unite unions. They are striking together against “Pay for Performance”. This is an imposition by bosses that freezes pensionable pay at current levels and means all future pay rises will not be pensionable.
Tory mayor Boris Johnson is chair of TfL. The “Pay for Performance” proposal is yet another attack on London transport workers. If he gets away with this here other parts of the “TfL family”, not least workers in London Underground, will be next.
Trade unionists should support the walkout.
