Technicians working for London Underground could strike from Saturday of this week until Tuesday of next week—and shut down the Tube.
The 40 technicians are mostly members of the Unite union. They were transferred to other organisations years ago then returned to London Underground with different conditions. Some workers have their full years of service intact while others don’t.
The technicians control the power to run Tube trains.
The Tube would begin to shut down on Friday evening if the strike goes ahead, so passengers aren’t stranded on trains without power.
Talks were being held at conciliation service Acas as Socialist Worker went to press.
