Campaigners in Barnsley plan to lobby the council on Thursday of this week to demand the reinstatement of free train travel for older people in South Yorkshire.
South Yorkshire councils removed free travel for older and disabled people earlier this year. All four Labour councils voted against reinstating the free travel for older people last week.
Further freedom rides, involving mass refusal to pay fares while travelling on trains, are planned.
Campaigners will head to the National Pensioners Convention annual parliament in Blackpool next month and have been invited to have a stall at the Durham Miners Gala.
Leading campaigner George Arthur said activists could call a “national day of direct action” as part of the fight.
