Construction workers took part in a series of protests on Friday of last week. The protests were part of a national day of action against “umbrella” tax scams.

Building sites were occupied and blockaded in London, Newcastle, Manchester, Glasgow and Cardiff.

Trucks were turned away after activists blockaded the building site entrance for Cramlington Hospital north of Newcastle. In London protesters occupied Whitechapel station after protesting at the new Crossrail site.

In Northampton campaigners from the Blacklist Support Group and members of the Ucatt and Unite unions occupied the UK head office of the Danish owned employment agency Atlanco Rimec.

The employment agency operates in the UK and Ireland. It was exposed on Danish TV for keeping a secret blacklist of workers and denying them work.
