Playhouse Theatre's powerful new adaptation of 1984

Issue No. 2406

This powerful new stage adaptation of George Orwell’s novel emphasises the uncertainty of Winston’s world, the terror and fear of betrayal and torture.

In a world controlled by the Party and the mythical Big Brother, Winston and Julia want to rebel.

The audience acts as the thought police watching a  film of Winston and Julia in bed.

The production updates the story to take into account the end of the Stalinist states and the modern surveillance society.
