About 40 campaigners lobbied Barnsley Council on Thursday of last week demanding that free travel for older people be reinstated.
Their campaigning has already won back that right for disabled people and half price travel for older people.
A new independent councillor who has been involved with the Freedom Rides—a mass refusal to pay fares on a train—pledged her support, as did a Labour councillor.
The next Freedom Ride will take place on Monday of next week. It will be South Yorkshire wide. In response to one campaigner’s complaints about the cost of the Tour de France we decided to call it the Tour de South Yorkshire.
