Asylum seekers march for dignity

Issue No. 2406

Asylum seekers marched the 50 miles from Bristol to Cardiff last week to protest against government attacks on migrants.

The dozen men and women who have been forced to flee their homes then staged a demonstration outside a Home Office detention centre in Cardiff.

They are demanding an end to forced deportations, detentions and poverty.

Many of the asylum seekers have been forced to rely on friends and charity to survive.

They carried placards which read “UKBA don’t play with our lives” and “walking for dignity and freedom”.

A papier mache goat costume carried the message “Don’t scapegoat asylum seekers”.
