More than 100 teachers rallied before an NUT union lobby of parliament on Tuesday of this week.

It was part of the union’s Stand Up for Education campaign against Tory education secretary Michael Gove’s attacks on pay and education.

Christine Blower, NUT general secretary, said, ‘‘We’ve already had massive support from teachers, parents and the public.”

Blower condemned Gove’s “appalling” and “wholly spurious” attack on Birmingham schools.

The NUT has said it will strike on 10 July if government talks fail.
