Heathrow Express workers continue strikes

Issue No. 2408

Workers at Heathrow Express were set to strike for another two days this week after their RMT union said Acas talks were “effectively sabotaged by the company”.

The 24-hour strikes on Thursday and Sunday of this week will be the fourth and fifth strikes against bosses’ multi-million pound package of cuts.

Some 200 workers are under threat of redundancy while those who remain face a ten-year pay freeze.

Heathrow Express made over £4.5 million profit last year

A planned strike by RMT union members at Manchester’s Longsight train care depot was suspended after talks reached an agreement.

The cleaners were set to strike on Thursday of last week over the victimisation of a union activist.
