Nearly 100 people attended a Campaign Against NHS Privatisation (CANP) meeting in Leicester last Saturday. It was addressed by GP Louise Irvine from the Save Lewisham Hospital Campaign.
The meeting heard how CANP has organised street protests in Leicestershire and produced useful information about how the NHS is functioning.
In debate from the floor activists argued that CANP is doing a good job but that more action is required.
Yorkshire ambulance workers are being balloted to strike in the long-running dispute over patient and staff safety issues.
The workers are angry over changes to shift patterns that could see them working for up to ten hours without a break.
