New notices over Sean Rigg death
The Independent Police Complaints Commission has served notices of investigation on five officers in connection with a death in custody.
The notice is for a new inquiry into events leading up to the death of Sean Rigg at Brixton police station in 2008.
Senior arresting officer PC Andrew Birks is among the officers being investigated.
He was due to resign on 1 June but the Metropolitan Police force reversed a decision to allow him to quit after a campaign by Sean’s family.
He was suspended last month.
