An Asian man who died after being stopped by police in Camden, north London, had injuries “consistent” with being restrained according to his family.
One family member told the local paper Ham&High, “We don’t know why he was restrained or stopped—the police have told us nothing. There’s a complete blackout.”
The police have only stated that they had “cause to stop him” and that he was “taken unwell”. The Independent Police Complaints Commission is investigating the incident.
The family say the 37 year old artist was “very physically fit”, with no known health conditions.
Police stopped him at about 11am on the morning of 5 June. Half an hour later he was being treated by paramedics.
He suffered cardiac arrest and went into a coma in hospital.
He died three days later when his life support was switched off.
