‘Trojan horse’ report is due

Birmingham city council’s report into the fabricated “Trojan Horse” plot was due to be published this week. The alleged plot was for an Islamic “take over” of local schools. But there has been no evidence to support this.

Migrants occupy Harmondsworth 

Some 60 detainees occupied the courtyard of Harmondsworth immigration detention centre on the night of Monday of this week. Protesters were demanding those detained under the hated Fast Track procedure are immediately released. 

Tories plot new snoopers bill 

David Cameron announced on Thursday of last week plans to rush emergency surveillance legislation through parliament. The bill includes clauses that would expand the government’s ability to directly intercept phone calls and digital and online  communications such as text and emails. 

Rendition files were ‘destroyed’

The government has claimed it has accidently destroyed documents detailing CIA rendition flights to the island of Diego Garcia. Recent reports suggest the tiny territory in the Indian Ocean will be identified as the location of a secret prison.
