Defence Support Group workers hold unofficial stoppage in fight for pay

Issue No. 2413

Defence Support Group workers stopped production for 15 minutes on Thursday of last week in support of their union’s claim for an 8 percent pay offer.

They downed tools as a protest at bosses’ “insulting” pay offer of 1 percent.

A Unite union rep said, “Loyal workers have worked hard and watched as millions of pounds of profit have been accumulated in the bank.

“But we are offered derisory pay increases every year.

“We are a highly skilled workforce and yet we have seen our pay reduce in real terms by 18 percent.

“The management are taking us for a ride and we have had enough.”
