Union leaders have called off a planned strike by BBC workers. The walkout had been set to take place on Wednesday of this week.
The NUJ and Bectu unions cancelled the 12-hour strike after receiving an improved offer from bosses.
Staff earning less than £50,000 will receive a £650 pay rise from 1 August. Those earning more than £50,000 will receive a £500 rise.
This is the same as the original offer. But bosses then offered an extra £150 payment on 1 January next year and a 2.5 percent pay rise on 1 August.
One BBC worker told Socialist Worker, “Calling off the strikes was a missed opportunity to get more.”
