Bin workers set for two hour walkout
Refuse workers in Birmingham were set to walk out for two hours from 1.30pm on Friday of this week.
The Unite union members face a number of attacks on terms and conditions, including the withdrawal of overtime.
Protest in support of locked out staff
Members of the Unite union protested in Northampton last week against the ongoing lockout of 78 biomedical scientists at Northampton General Hospital.
The scientists carry out blood tests. They have been locked since they struck last month against the imposition of new contracts.
Therapists hail win over harassment
Occupational therapists in the Unite union at Greenwich council, south east London, are celebrating victory after a suspended colleague was reinstated last week.
They had struck three times against an alleged “bullying culture”.
The worker was accused of gross misconduct after making a complaint about bullying and harassment.
The charges against her have now been dropped.
Join the vigil for Mark Duggan
A vigil is set to take place for Mark Duggan on 4 August, the third anniversary of his death.
Family and supporters are set to meet outside Tangmere on the Broadwater Farm estate in north London at 5pm.
The vigil will then be held at 6pm at Ferry Lane, the scene where Mark was killed by police.
Activists discuss Egypt repression
Over 50 people attended an Egypt Solidarity Initiative public meeting on Thursday of last week.
Speakers included Egyptian campainer Evronia Azer who talked about the military clampdown and the importance of defending detainees.
Kent music festival stands up to racists
The Freedom Festival in Margate was a big success last Saturday.
Two stages saw more than 12 hours of performances from local artists.
The event was backed by Love Music Hate Racism as well as many trade unions.
The Stand Up to Ukip campaign was also launched.
