South Africa strikers in talks

Issue No. 2413

Union representatives from the Numsa metal workers’ union in South Africa were in talks as Socialist Worker went to press.

Meanwhile some 200,000 workers are continuing to strike over pay. Workers are demanding a pay rise of 12 percent or at least a “double digit” rise.

The strike is having an impact on the South African economy and manufacturing.

Ford motor company and other factories have had to shut down production due to lack of spare parts.
