Syrian protests for Palestine

Protesters have marched in solidarity with the Palestinians in Aleppo and elsewhere, even as people suffer their own bombardment and shelling from Bashar al-Assad’s regime.

The Palestine question runs deep in consciousness of the masses in Syria.

The regime has pretended to support the Palestinians. Yet it carried out attacks on the Palestinian resistance, especially in 1960s and 1970s.

The rise in Palestinian resistance helped shape a new left in Syria. Over half of those involved in the first Trotskyist study groups were Palestinians.

The Palestinian cause has been present in the debates in the revolution since its early stages.

One of the best known banners raised in demonstrations tells the Palestinians that “We are a bit busy right now but when we finish off this regime we will be right with you to fight for your liberation”.
