Pressure is mounting on Hertfordshire County Council to reinstate a firefighter who was sacked for discussing strikes on social media.
Ashley Brown was dismissed in December of last year for “gross misconduct”.
This was after he tweeted about the action firefighters are taking against attacks on their pension.
The father of three has been a firefighter for over 25 years.
A petition demanding he is reinstated had over 8,500 signatures by the time Socialist Worker went to press.
The campaign is hoping this can hit 9,000.
The decision by Hertfordshire Fire and Rescue Service to sack Ashley has put his family under immense strain.
Members of the FBU, PCS and Unite unions as well as the TUC have donated to a special fund set up to support Ashley and his family.
And more than 100 supporters protested outside the Hertfordshire County Council offices last month.
