Britain tries to hide rendition torture role

The British government is trying to censor a US report into rendition and torture in secret prisons. 

They want to cover up Britain’s role. 

The CIA has had to admit it spied on the staff conducting the inquiry. 

Cuts to refuges creating crisis

Campaigners are warning that cuts to domestic abuse refuges are creating a crisis.

Centres are closing without any alternative accommodation available.

Activists say this is pushing support for vulnerable women and children back 40 years, as networks of support are broken up.

Tories deport Isabella Acevedo at night

The former cleaner of ex?immigration minister Mark Harper was deported on Thursday of last week. 

Isabella Acevedo was deported to Colombia.

She was being taken from Yarl’s Wood immigration centre by officials in her night clothes at midnight.

Supporters had been planning to protest against her removal.

Prison deaths on the increase 

A new government report declares more than a fifth of prisons in Britain—29—as being “of concern”. 

This is up from 15 a year ago. Another report reveals that the number of prisoners who died in custody in 2013-14 was 225. 

This is the highest in the past nine years.
