Jewish man flees his home

An Orthodox Jewish man was forced to flee his home in Salford after an attack by a mob of 30 people.

He had spoken at a demo against Israel’s bombing of Gaza. A neighbour said, “I have never known a time when the Jewish community turned on each other.”

Massive rise in rail fares

Rail fares in Greater Manchester and parts of Yorkshire will increase by up to 162 percent from this week.

Chancellor George Osborne announced that off peak return fares will no longer be usable between 4pm and 6.30pm.

From care to unsuitable B&Bs

More than half of British councils are placing vulnerable teenagers leaving care into B&B accommodation. 

The charity Barnado’s found that 73 percent of councils use B&Bs for people leaving care. Some 51 percent left people there for more than a month.
