Robert Young 1965-2014

The former Primal Scream lead guitarist Robert Young died at the age of 49 on Monday of last week.

This tragic news came as a shock to many fans of the band’s music even though he left in 2006.

Young formed the band with school friend Bobby Gillespie in Glasgow in 1984.

The band fused their distinctive sound of rock, funk and electro and went on to fame with classic album Screamadelica.

Many of us will remember Primal Scream for its hard political songs in the 1990s.

The song Swastika Eyes railed against the then US secretary of state Madeleine Albright and what the band branded “American international terrorism”.

It was because of this fusion of innovative music and angry commentary, that so many will miss this immensely talented musician.

Narrating Objects:unlocking the stories of sculpture

It includes portrait and figure sculpture, and sculptures which have words or text embedded.

It looks at sculptural constructions and installations which suggest movement, process or a sequence of events.
