Freedom riders defiant as bosses refuse to make concessions

Train bosses are refusing to make any concessions to South Yorkshire Freedom Riders’ demand for the reinstatement of free train travel for older people.

Over 60 campaigners met to decide a series of future protests. On Monday 40 people protested at Barnsley railway station. They then marched into the Town Hall, refusing to leave until the council leader Sir Steve Houghton came out.
