Bedroom tax victim jailed

by Mark Krantz
Issue No. 2425

Bedroom tax prisoner Michael Hilton was sentenced to ten months in jail last week. There was anger and disbelief in court.

Michael had lived in home in Accrington, Lancashire, for 33 years. In June when bailiffs came with an eviction notice Michael blockaded himself in his house and threatened to blow himself up.

He has now lost the house he shared with his son—all because of bedroom tax.

Campaigners will be planning the next step in the next fight against the bedroom tax.
