Your Choice Barnet workers ballot on new offer

Issue No. 2426

A ballot by Unison union members at Your Choice Barnet (YCB) ends on Thursday of this week.

The north London care workers have been in dispute with their bosses at the council-owned company over pay cuts.

They are voting on a revised offer to cut their pay by 7.9 percent and not the original 9.5 percent cut proposed earlier this year.

Barnet Unison branch is rightly recommending workers reject the deal.

YCB workers struck for four days last month and were set to strike for two days last week when the latest offer came. Strikes were suspended.

Tory-run Barnet Council has come under pressure from their solid action. It could easily bring the dispute to an end by bringing the care service back in-house and end the attacks on pay.
