Ukip's nasty Nazi funding deal

Issue No. 2426

Ukip has done a deal with a Polish Nazi to save its grouping in the European Parliament.

While Ukip isn’t fascist, its willingness to work with Nazis reflects the racism at its heart.

The Europe of Freedom and Direct Democracy (EFDD) group to which Ukip belongs almost collapsed last week after a defection.

It has recruited Robert Iwaszkiewicz, a Polish MEP from the Congress of the New Right, in order to protect its funding.

EFDD now includes 48 MEPs which means Ukip should get around £1 million a year in funding.

Iwaszkiewicz’s party leader Janusz Korwin-Mikke has said that Adolf Hitler was “probably not aware” of the Holocaust.

He has demanded that the right to vote be removed from women.

Meanwhile Ukip hopes to win its second MP on 20 November, in the Rochester and Strood by?election. Stand up to Ukip has a meeting planned to oppose it.
