Crane drivers working for HTC Plant were set to strike on Friday of this week and shut major construction sites.

The Ucatt union said that three 24-hour stoppages have been agreed for successive Fridays, following a 94 percent vote to strike last week.

Contractors likely to be affected include Kier, Lend Lease, Bam, Costain, Mace and Vinci.

Sites hit will include Crossrail, Elephant and Castle, London Bridge, Nova Square Victoria, and the Atomic Weapons Establishment at Aldermaston.

Jubilee Line blacklister faces protests

A series of protests against blacklisting in the construction industry continued this week.

Workers protested at the Reading university on Tuesday where former blacklister Sheila Knight now works.

Knight added electricians who struck on the Jubilee Line extension project in the 1990s to the blacklist.
