Around 40 people joined a lively protest in central London organised by the Egypt Solidarity Initiative last Saturday.

Protesters chanted, “General Sisi hear us shout – let the prisoners out”.

London student Farida told Socialist Worker, “We’re protesting to highlight Egyptian government repression – and specifically the protest law.

“There are more than 40,000 political prisoners and thousands of hunger strikers.

“But we’re also protesting against the British government here.”

There will be a protest outside the Egyptian embassy on 29 December in solidarity with journalists.
