Russian doctors fight job cuts

Issue No. 2432

More than 1,000 people marched through Moscow, Russia, last weekend against plans to sack thousands of health workers and close dozens of clinics.

Reports said that liberal and nationalist groups also attended the march.

Doctors’ banners included “Save money on war” as well as “Doctors and Patients Unite”.

It shows the possibility for building resistance within Russia against president Vladimir Putin.
