Witness challenges cops' story after Adrian McDonald tasered

A man died after police tasered him last month.

Adrian McDonald collapsed and later died after police were called to an address in Newcastle-under-Lyme, Staffordshire.

Staffordshire Police said they were responding to a burglary—but this version of events has been rubbished.

Paul Carter said he had invited Adrian to a birthday party at the address and called police after Adrian became “distressed”.

He said, “Adrian was not a burglar, he was a great guy. I had invited him around, I want to clear his name.”

Armed police arrived at the scene and shot Adrian with a taser. He was arrested and put into a police van where he became ill.

Officers say the death was caught on body cameras and the case has been passed to the Independent Police Complaints Commission.
