Teachers at B6 sixth form college in Hackney, east London, struck on Wednesday of last week over workload issues.

The action was solid with great support from sixth form colleges across the country.

NUT union rep Jamie Duff told Socialist Worker, “We’re being subjected to internal quality review such as mock Ofsted inspections.

“This produces lots of stress. It doesn’t improve teaching and learning and it’s not good for students.

“We’re also striking over the introduction of new cover policy, requiring us to cover in full subjects that are not familiar to us.

“We are determined to fight excess workload and to stand up for education.”
