The Trade Unionist and Socialist Coalition (TUSC) is standing parliamentary candidates across Britain.
Mev Akram is the TUSC candidate for Doncaster Central.
She told Socialist Worker, “Our campaign is getting quite a positive response. People are fed up in Doncaster.
“We’re speaking to nurses who are fed up about the attacks on the NHS. And we’re speaking to people who are fed up with what the council is doing.
“The council has just built a big new civic building in the town centre, while there are people who have to rely on food banks.
“They’re closing three food banks because they say they can’t afford them any more.”
Mev said that there has been resistance too.
“In Doncaster we had the Care UK strike,” she said.
“People are still angry about what happened, and the privatisation of care homes.
“There’s the scapegoating of migrants as well. We had a massive Stand up to Ukip demonstration in Doncaster last year.”
Mev explained that it’s important to vote for TUSC, despite pressure to vote Labour to keep the Tories out.
She said, “All the other parties aren’t for the 99 percent.
“If you agree with TUSC, then you should vote for TUSC.
“We don’t just want someone who’s the least worse, or the lesser evil. We need to vote for a real alternative”.
