Windsor Castle staff vote for action

Issue No. 2450

Low paid workers at one of the queen’s palaces have voted overwhelmingly to take industrial action in a row over pay.

Windsor Castle staff voted by 84 percent for action short of a strike.

They are paid less than the Living Wage. New recruits start on as little as £14,400 a year. And in the last few years they have been asked to carry out extra duties for no additional pay while facing pay cuts.

The PCS union says that action could start at the end of the month.
