Workers at Greenwich College in south London were set to strike on Friday of this week over new contracts that slash holidays, impose longer hours and bring in unannounced teaching observations.
Workers struck for two days last week. At a recent union meeting they called for a four-day strike to begin on Tuesday of next week.
A strikers’ meeting last week unanimously backed a statement reading, “UCU members of this branch will not accept the bullying, threatening and divisive tactics of management.”
It also insisted that the union “action the strike agreed” for next week.
College bosses have sent a letter to UCU members asking them to sign the new contracts. Workers met on Monday of this week and overwhelmingly voted not to sign them. Talks at Acas were set to take place on Thursday of this week.
