Pearson protest says no to tests and privatisation

Issue No. 2451

Teachers and parents lobbied the annual general meeting of private education firm Pearson on Friday of last week.

They opposed the involvement of business in education and the idea that education can be used to make profit.

Around 1,500 joined a demonstration in London against funding cuts to adult education on last Saturday.

It was called by London region of the UCU union, and backed by the national union.

The Tories’ plan to slash funding by a quarter would lock 400,000 people out of education, and effectively end adult education.
