DONATIONS TO the Socialist Worker appeal enable us to have a reach far beyond Britain. This week we received a message from Madhuresh, a supporter in Kolkata, India.
He came across Socialist Worker for the first time in January while at the World Social Forum in Mumbai:
“I wish we had a paper like Socialist Worker in India.
“Here our newspapers are changing their focus to cater to the new elites who are benefitting from neo-liberal reforms.
“They don’t provide any space for the voices and struggles of ordinary people. Socialist Worker is an inspiration to those who are struggling for a better world.
“I would urge everybody to donate to your appeal, not only to improve the paper but to sustain it. Socialist Worker is sent free of charge to myself and hundreds of other activists in the global South.
“Please give what you can so that Socialist Worker can continue to help us.”
This week donations have been greatly supplemented by a number of fundraising events (see page 10 for details of those which are forthcoming).
Why not organise a get together with an international feel, and help raise money for Socialist Worker?
You can donate securely online here or by phone on 020 7538 2707. Post cheques (payable to “SW Moving Fund”) and send to PO Box 82, London E3 3LH.
