Blackpool walkout for Chad Vickers
RMT union members at Blackpool North struck last Saturday and Sunday in defence of dismissed colleague Chad Vickers.
The union said Chad was dismissed by “a management with little regard for due process, evidence or natural justice”.
It said the matter was referred to the police but they found no evidence of the charges laid against Chad.
Hundreds march for Barnet libraries
Up to 500 people marched against the Tories’ privatisation of libraries last Saturday in Barnet, north London.
The protest was organised by the Save Barnet Libraries campaign.
A council vote next month could cut the library staffing budget by 68 percent.
Up to six libraries could close.
TUSC conference to discuss elections
The Trade Unionist and Socialist Coalition (TUSC) is set to hold a conference in London on Saturday of next week.
TUSC, a left alternative to Labour, stood a number of candidates across the country in the elections last May.
Unwelcome racist Ukip in Doncaster
Stand Up To Ukip (Sutu) is preparing to protest in Doncaster, South Yorkshire, as the racist Ukip party meets there later this month.
Ukip is holding its annual conference at Doncaster Racecourse.
Sutu will be “unwelcoming” delegates arriving on Saturday 26 September from 12 noon.

Legal’s move puts 1,700 jobs at risk
The Unite union is holding a consultative ballot of its members at investment and insurance firm Legal and General’s flagship site in Kingswood, Surrey.
A strike ballot could follow.
Legal and General plans to vacate the site to save money. Unite says this could threaten 1,700 jobs.
Fast Food Rights Campaign to meet
Activists in the Fast Food Rights Campaign were set to meet in London on Wednesday of this week for a national organising day.
The campaign aims to unionise fast food workers and fight for better pay and conditions.
