Students and staff protest against University of Manchester cuts

Issue No. 2474

Students led a demonstration on Friday of last week against planned job cuts at the University of Manchester.

The cuts, including compulsory redundancies, will affect UCU, Unite and Unison union members at the university.

Unions are in dispute over the cuts. The student union backed a previous protest by unions last month.

UCU union members in further education colleges across England are balloting for strikes over pay.

Bosses have recommended a pay freeze. The ballot ends on 15 October.
