Around 700 people from across Rotherham attended the funeral of grandfather Mushin Ahmed on Friday of last week.

Mr Ahmed’s wife said in a statement that he was “the most sincere, kind and gentle man.”

She thanked everyone who “offered us overwhelming support throughout the most difficult time in our lives.”

She added, “The community has come together united in sorrow,” and argued that “Mushin would want us to try and bring something positive out of our grief, in the hope that no other families should ever have to go through this pain.”

Two men have been charged with Mr Ahmed’s murder and are currently on remand.
