Stop the war

AROUND 500 protesters marched in Oxford last Saturday against war on Iraq and for justice for the Palestinians. People of all religions, political orientations and ages united in a display of resistance and solidarity, led by a brilliant band of student musicians. At the rally afterwards there was a determination to build for the European day of action on 15 February.

AROUND 400 protesters joined a march through Newcastle organised by the Stop the War Coalition. A big contingent of students ensured the demo was lively and noisy.

AROUND 50 people attended a lively meeting at Warwick University to discuss war on Iraq. Helen Salmon from the Stop the War Coalition spoke on Bush's plans for global hegemony and how he could be stopped.

Yvonne Ridley, the journalist captured by the Taliban, stressed the importance of looking at the injustices committed by Israel.
