Protest blocks Greek Golden Dawn Nazis

Issue No. 2484

Anti-fascists marched through the port town of Piraeus, Greece, to stop an event by the fascist Golden Dawn party last Sunday.

The mobilisation was called by trade unions, local campaigns, and the Movement Against Racism and the Fascist Threat (Keerfa).

Golden Dawn is struggling to build at the same time as its leaders are on trial over their role in the party’s violent and criminal actions.

Some Golden Dawn members are on trial over the murder of anti-fascist rapper Pavlos Fyssas.

The Nazis tried to hold an “award ceremony” in a public cinema but were forced to retreat to hold it in their own office.

Anti-fascists aim to push on until the Golden Dawn office is shut down.

Keerfa was set to hold a rally outside the fascists’ trial on Thursday morning of this week.
