AROUND 350 students from around the country attended the Shared Planet conference last weekend. This is an annual event organised by student anti-corporate network People and Planet.

Many of the students had been involved in the day of action on 31 October. Comedian Mark Thomas used his keynote address to speak out against the war with Iraq. Workshops took place through the weekend to discuss a range of issues, but the highlight was George Monbiot thrashing a pro-Bush speaker over the question of the war, to the delight of the audience.
