AROUND 50 pensioners and trade unionists met in London last Saturday at a conference organised by the Greater London Pensioners Association. Pensioners were angry that restoring the link between pensions and earnings was not raised at Labour's conference.

There have been strikes across much of Europe against attacks on pensions. We need such action here. If MPs' pensions can rise by 20 percent, why can't all pensioners have a decent pension?

Pensioners from all over the country will lobby their MPs on Monday 11 November. We will make it clear that we do not want a means tested pensions credit. Dot Gibson from Lambeth said one woman told her she would only join the local pensioners action group if they were going to be militant.
