Public Sector Alliance activists' meeting

Issue No. 1822

THE LONDON pay strikes mean that a meeting for union activists called by the Public Sector Alliance on Monday of next week takes on added importance. The alliance draws together representatives of the London regions of the main public sector unions.

Mick Shaw is the Fire Brigades Union (FBU) national executive member for London, and is part of the alliance. He told Socialist Worker, 'The purpose of the meeting is for people to come together to discuss the concrete ways we can link each struggle and build support for them. Almost every trade union in London is involved in action.

The FBU is the highest profile because it is a national dispute. There will be proposals at the meeting to set up support groups for the firefighters and control room staff. But it is not only about the FBU campaign. I hope there can be serious consideration of how to encourage all the different union battles in London. Every union activist in London should be there.'

PSA activists meeting, Monday 21 October, 7.15pm, Natfhe Headquarters, Britannia Street, London WC1.
