SUPERMARKET giant Morrisons has withdrawn a recognition agreement for its workers' TGWU union. Some 1,600 TGWU union members were voting in a consultative ballot this week on whether to have a full strike ballot.

Morrisons withdrew the agreement when the TGWU refused to agree to accept binding arbitration to settle disputes. The company has invited other unions to bid for the TGWU's membership on the understanding that there is a no-strike deal.
