Gloucester City Council

Issue No. 1821

OVER 100 members of Gloucester City Council UNISON union demonstrated outside the council headquarters last week. They were protesting against proposed closures, redundancies and cuts in the city's museums, archaeology unit, arts centre and sporting facilities.

A Unison member said, 'We are really heartened by the turnout. This is the early stages of our campaign, and to get so many people here is great. 'If they get away with selling off the work done by the archaeology unit, it could open the floodgates to further privatisation. We are going to stop them.'
