THE FRIENDS of Palestine Society at Warwick University organised a debate on Israeli apartheid last week.

Some student union full time officers tried to cancel the event. The Israeli embassy had been on the phone to the university 12 times.

The officers were bombarded with complaints and the union realised it had to allow the meeting to go ahead.

Some 140 students got into the debate, with 70 more left outside.
